Leander Paes to lead Punekars to Limca Books
The Indian Tennis Legend 18 Time Grand Slam Champion, 34 Grand Slam Finals , 6 Time Olympian, Singles Olympic Medal Winner. Leander Paes will lead over 500 tennis players , coaches, fans and enthusiasts in attempt to create a New Indian record for tapping at the ongoing KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger being played at the Mhalunge Balewadi tennis complex.
“ We are happy that Leander has agreed to lead the effort and this will give fillip to the record attempt that Punekars are trying to set “ said Sunder Iyer Hon Secretary of MSLTA.
Last year we had set a ball tapping record was set just before the final where 367 tennis players and coaches tapped the ball at the same time for 20 seconds without dropping the ball. The feat went in the Limca Book of Records.
Iyer said Pune and the tournament was looking to break the world record set during China Open where 814 participants had gathered and 767 of them successfully tapped the ball without dropping for 10 seconds.
